Michaela Rhua Visits with her new F/F Release!

Staying in the past or stepping into the future?

Thank you for having me on your blog. Well 2015 has started in a superb way with a new release. However 2014 was not a productive year writing wise but the last few months my brain kicked in and inspiration returned in the form of this series called Moon Maidens – a FF or lesbian series. Book 1 called Moon Maidens is out now.

So what has 2014 taught me? Life is to be lived. The past is exactly that – the past. We should not dwell on it so much that it colours everything we do. Learn from our experiences and move on. The future is ahead of us, like a blank open page to write, create and live.
But what happens when the past comes and hits you in the face? Raya discovers something about her past that could damage what she has started to build with Amari. They reach that point where Raya has to decide whether she keeps her foot in the past or steps into the future. Well you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens. But here is a little bit more about my girls.

Blurb.
A quick pick up and a night of sex was just what Raya was looking for. Only meeting Amari set her insides on fire and she had to have more of this Indian beauty. Witches and shifters aren’t meant to bond only Raya and Amari can’t ignore the chemistry flowing between them. Trouble strikes the lovers when a past trauma hits Raya and Amari’s mother could be to blame. Finally Raya has a chance to get even with the old witch, who destroyed her life. When that revenge reveals that Raya’s  past holds secrets she wasn’t aware of, it throws into question everything she believes in. Can the lovers unite to help Raya find her true self or is it all too late?

Excerpt.
"Good morning Amari. Sorry I couldn't wait," Raya said. She pulled off her sneakers one by one, followed by her sports socks.
Amari held out her hand, inviting her across. Raya's eyes lit up and she began to walk across the shallow water. Suddenly she stopped and looked down at her feet, confusion written across her face. Raya backed away, out of the water.
"You okay?"
"Err…yeah. Why don't you come across here?" Raya suggested.
Amari did not hesitate, pulling up her dress to skip across the cool water, leaving her sandals behind. Once across, Raya grabbed her hand and pulled her into her. Both girls looked at each other. Raya’s deep green eyes shone back at Amari.
"You're beautiful…" began Raya, but she was silenced by Amari who pulled Raya's head down in a rough kiss. Instantly there was a connection, sparks of energy flew around them and Amari's body began to heat up. Lips meshed and tongues played, dancing and teasing. Their hands explored and grabbed each other's bodies to get closer, wanting no space between them.
Ray moaned into Amari's mouth. Amari pulled away.
"Sorry, did I hurt you?"
"Are you kidding me?" Raya said, pulling her back into a kissing that almost hurt with the fierce passion that was behind it. Amari's mouth sizzled against Raya's; never had she experienced something this strong straight away. She pulled at Raya's T-shirt, wanting nothing between them; skin on skin was her desire. Raya helped her out by holding her arms up and Amari pulled the T-shirt off. Underneath she wore a simple cotton bra that cradled her breasts. Amari slid  off one strap and kissed the soft skin of her neck, then shoulder. She felt Raya's hand massage the back of her head, keeping her in that position. So she likes to be kissed there. With a new lover, it was always a learning experience; what they liked and didn’t like was stored in your memory. She was enjoying learning about Raya. She pulled down one cup to reveal a perfect breast with an erect pink nipple. Raya wasted no time: she sucked it straight away and then used her teeth to bite gently. This released another moan from Raya's lips. Amari smiled, looking up at Raya.
"You like a little pain?" Amari carried on sucking Raya's breasts with gentle bites. She moved her hand down Raya’s front and edged it into her joggers and down to her panties, which to Amari's delight were a little moist. She rubbed Raya's mound, letting the tips of her fingers slide down further. Raya spread her legs a little; that meant Amari could reach further. Massaging that pussy was not enough, she wanted to taste. Amari grabbed Raya's joggers, pulled them all the way down and then knelt at her feet.
Raya's legs were long and toned, probably with all that jogging. Amari stroked them up and down, dragging her nails closer and closer to her bare pussy that glistened, inviting her to taste. Amari stepped back to look at Raya. She was amazing with flawless skin, breasts that fitted into Amari's hands and topped off with her red hair that looked like it was fire when the sun caught it.
"Lie down, Raya."
"No, I want you naked too," Raya replied.
Amari hesitated for a moment, her hands shaking, because not everyone appreciated her fuller figure.
"Go on, let me see you."
Amari took a deep breath and pulled her dress off. Raya's mouth opened and her eyes deepened in color. Amari could feel heat emanating from Raya's body; it was one of those gifts her mother said she possessed, reading people's feelings. Sometimes that was through the colors that surrounded them or the energy in the air, this time it was through the warmth of Raya's body that drifted to her and pulled her in.
"You are perfect, Amari." Raya stepped towards her and stroked her shoulder. More warmth filled Amari as she felt Raya's hands stroke her breasts, down her waist to her needy pussy.

Jacey Holbrand visits with Breeding Seth (Mpreg RotG)!

Congrats to Skyekiloh for winning my Evernights Holiday Hangover Blog Hop!!!

Could you tell us some background on the story/series, like how did you come up your characters and story?

~ The two main characters came about when Evernight Publishing put out an anthology call for office type romances. For it, I came up with the idea of The Agency, a company that helps people with activity concerning their paranormal and supernatural issues, and the one hero, Evan Zenas, a very serious agent who carries a secret about an alien encounter. In the first story, The Encounter, a young man, Seth Trivos, comes to work at The Agency. He and Evan knew each other in the past, but due to certain circumstances at that time, they couldn’t pursue their feelings for each other. The short story, The Encounter, wasn’t chosen for the anthology, but it was offered a home as a regular release. I almost doubled the word count and resubmitted it. After some reader reviews, I realized I needed to expand upon Evan and Seth’s relationship and round it out more. But what to write? I hadn’t a clue. That is until I spoke with another friend of mine who happens to be a writer as well and we did a bit of brainstorming. From that session, I came up with the idea of Seth having a pregnancy scare. That being said, my original concept of a bunch of different stories following different peoples’ dealings with paranormal and supernatural activities changed with the writing of Breeding Seth. I don’t want to give too much away here, but if you read the book, you’ll see the angle the series will be taking. ;)

Blurb for Breeding Seth
Evan Zenas and Seth Trivos had a tumultuous start to their relationship which has finally mellowed out. But now, something is wrong with Seth. Concerned for his health, Evan convinces his boyfriend, Seth, to see the doctor, and the prognosis is alarming.
    Seth is pregnant.
    The mystery is how.
Not only is their relationship at stake due to the life altering news so is Seth's life.
Be warned: m/m sex, anal sex, male pregnancy

Excerpt:
Evan’s hot breath warmed his face, but Seth didn’t mind, especially in light of having his wish granted. His eyes fluttered closed as Evan’s lips found his, but it wasn’t an easy-going, lingering kiss. Evan threw his arms around him in a tight hold and claimed his mouth with wild abandon. Seth’s head reeled. He assisted Evan in removing his pack and then his shirt.
“You know what? Even though we’re probably not supposed to be off the trail and trekking over, and fucking behind, rocks not designated as a public area, this is kinda hot, isn’t it?” Evan unfastened his shorts.
Too happy and eager to be with his love, Seth nodded and unbuttoned his own shorts. Desire rushed through Seth and clawed at his insides. Once again, he embraced Evan, moving his hands up and down Evan’s muscular back. He pressed his lips upon Evan’s and then swept his tongue out, forcing Evan to open his mouth. Seth adored the taste of him, salty and spicy from the barbeque and salad, and loved his scent of leather and earth as well. It seemed like he’d waited forever to have Evan in his arms and his body close to his in such a setting. Evan’s lips trailed down his neck, and Seth reached up and cupped the back of his boyfriend’s head.
“God, Zen, I want you so bad.”
“Yeah?” Evan freed Seth’s cock from his shorts and underwear.
His heated touch seared Seth’s skin, tantalizing him to become rock hard. Seth traveled his hands up Evan’s arms to his shoulders, then slowly smoothed them down his chest, feeling all the nuances of his muscles until he came upon the waistband of Evan’s shorts. He removed Evan’s cock from the confines of the clothes and then rubbed their dicks together.
Evan leaned his forehead on his. “God, Seth, I love how that feels.”
“I do too, but what I’d really like is to feel your hot, moist mouth wrap around my cock.”
Reaching out, Evan grabbed the top of Seth’s shorts, sweeping his fingers between the material and his skin. A devilish grin graced Evan’s face as he yanked and pulled down Seth’s shorts.
Not only did Evan rouse his libido in all sorts of sexy ways by just being him, Seth felt free, as light as the few fluffy white clouds in the sky. He stepped out of the clothing at his feet, delighting in the way Evan’s gaze roamed over his body.
As if knowing it was being viewed, Seth’s cock bobbed. Evan pushed his legs apart, knelt down on the red sand and situated himself in front of Seth. Lightly grasping Seth’s penis, Evan bent forward and kissed it, then licked under its rim, circling the hard length a few times. Blissful tingles raced along Seth’s cock then swept out along all his nerves. He sucked in a stream of air. “Zen, quit being a tease and suck it already.”

Beth D. Carter's new Biker Romance - Along Came Merrie

**Congrats to Sherry, who won my Colors of Us Blog Hop!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?

A long time ago, my husband-at-the-time got into riding Harleys.  I loved the exhilaration of being on the back of the bike. I had a jacket with red flames and our bike was painted cherry red.  I even took a three day course to get my motorcycle license, and I passed…even though I laid the bike down twice.
So when I write about what it feels like to be on a bike…I’m doing that from memory.

I love to hear from readers so I’ve made it really easy to find me on the web:
Amazon author page:

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?

Along Came Merrie is the first book in the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club Series.  It’s what I would call the prequel to the Red Wolves trilogy.  It sets up this world and lead into the over-lining arc of the human trafficking story.

The series of the books, in order, are: Along Came Merrie, True North, When Dove Cries, and Lily Roar.

I’m also working on two follow-up books: Violent Delights and Violent Ends.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?

I love the tv shows Sons of Anarchy and Longmire, so my brain started to crossbreed the two.  I didn’t want to do the obvious, though.  One of the hardest things to deal with is the fact that the men are outlaw bikers.  On one hand you have to stay true to the ideas set forth for one percenters but on the other hand, it’s a story where the heroes needs to be redeemable.  On SOA, they’re gun runners, drug runners, and have no hesitation killing someone.  I decided to focus on a smaller club setting, more of a family.  The first book is pretty tame, but the following books are focused on human trafficking, so things escalate.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?

I think my favorite is Leo, because he was interesting to write.  I had to do a lot of research on the Shoshone nation, so he came as the full package.  Back story, history, thoughts, feelings…he’s really the opposite of Braden, which makes them work well together.

What's your favorite line in the story?

Okay, this is two lines, and really doesn’t have anything to do with this story, but sets up nicely for the next book:  “I can’t imagine sharing a woman in a long-term relationship. A one-night stand, sure, but no woman is worth being in bed with another man’s junk for the long haul.”

BLURB

Merrie Walden is in the wrong place at the wrong time.  She’s attacked by a vicious outlaw biker bent on shutting her up permanently when she sees something she shouldn’t, but luck is with her and she manages to escape by jumping out of a moving car.  She’s found by horse rancher Braden McClintock, who takes her to his adopted brother, Leo Cloud Dancer, for medical attention.

As she heals in the home of the two men, Merrie begins to realize that she’s falling for both of them.  Braden is taciturn while Leo is outgoing and both reach a deep seated need that she hadn’t even realized she had.

But before she can figure out if they can share a happily ever after, she has to survive the biker who’s found out where she is.  Because even if she doesn’t know what she witnessed, he sure the hell does.

And he wants her silent.

EXCERPT
She could see he wanted to believe her. But there was a world of hurt in his eyes that she didn’t know how to banish. Hopefully, time would help whittle away his insecurities.

He cupped her face. “You’re so young.”

“Not so young I haven’t lived,” she replied. “Not so young that I don’t know what I want.”

“Would you like to try to make this work between us?” he asked.

Once again, she looked between both men and read the sincerity in their gazes. Happiness swelled inside her as well as uncertainty. She’d never considered a ménage relationship and had no idea how to navigate the waters.

“Have you ever done this before?” she asked.

“No,” Leo said. “But learning is half the fun.”

Braden swung her up into his arms and she squealed with delight. She wrapped her arms around his neck. He marched up the stairs with Leo following. At the top, he hesitated and glanced at his brother.

“Mine,” Leo said. “I’ve got a king-size bed.”

Color of Love Blog Hop!

It's that time of year where we celebrate our love for characters of color in romantic fiction in the Color of Love Blog Hop!

The first romance I ever read was Web of Silk by Yvonne Whittle, a Harlequin Presents set amidst the lush background of South Africa.  Morgan, the heroine, was a titan haired beauty and her hero was an American blond Adonis.  I devoured my mother’s collection of Harlequins the summer before I started fifth grade, not only enraptured by the romance and love but also by foreign locals I was transported to through my imagination.

Growing up in a rural town of about eight thousand people that had not one African-American, it never entered my mind that all the romance books out there only featured white couples.  A decade later, when the 1990’s rolled around, I found myself living in Baltimore working at John’s Hopkins Hospital and taking the bus to work.  My Harlequins, at this point, had graduated to sweeping Zebra Historicals.  One morning I happen to see an African-American woman reading a Zebra novel, with a white couple brazenly displayed on the cover and it made me start to wonder why there weren’t more couples of color.

Now, this wasn’t a negative thought by any means.  When I went back to the bookstore I started looking at all the covers…and all were, well, vanilla.  I couldn’t help but see a wide gap that even romance novels wouldn’t breach through mainstream bookselling and I thought that was pretty sad.

The internet was just emerging by this point but used mainly for emailing friends because the information highway was a pain the ass since dial-up it took half a night to download anything.  So I didn’t know the name of Elsie B. Washington, widely regarded as the first woman to publish an African American love story in the mainstream romance market.  Nor did I know of Harlequin publishing the first collection of African American romance novels featuring Donna Hill, Brenda Jackson, and Mildred Riley.

And then the Nineties gave way to a new century; the internet took off and people started realizing how small the world actually is and how beautiful other cultures are.  And then I started seeing more and more romance novels with heroes and heroines on the shelves of different ethnicity.

Fast forward to now and the explosion of ebook publishing.  Finally, love is able to dominate.  Interracial couples are in demand and love is no longer vanilla. I’m so very happy about that.  I have had the delight of reading the most amazing stories, not just about interracial couples but even interspecies couples, ménage stories, and gay romance.  Love is Love.

I am offering a free ebook of either of my M/M interracial stories "Carried Away" or "Not Afraid", all you have to do is leave a comment!  I will choose a winner at random, so please leave a way to contact you, and what format you'd like to have.  (If I don't have that format, I'll send a PDF version)

Carried Away:
Jin-Pyoo is an Olympic Alpine skier who has been reared all his life to focus on winning a medal. His father is harsh and demanding, but when he orders Jin to stop being friends with ski resort owner, Tolliver St. James, Jin has to decide if he should continue with his Olympic dream or follow his heart.

Tolliver St. James knows that Jin is the man for him. They’ve been in a secret relationship for two years and he wants them to be publicly out, but Jin wants them to keep hiding in the shadows. But when Tolliver is caught in grips of an avalanche, Jin knows he can’t live his life without him and it’s a race against time to find the man he loves more than anything.

Not Afraid:

Not only are they a gay couple in a small town but he is black and Raleigh is white. Raleigh wants to be out and proud, but Gus is concerned since both their businesses revolve around the local market.

After an argument, Raleigh has doubts that their love can last because he’s tired of hiding their relationship. When a storm sweeps over his farm, he’s caught in the eye of a tornado, and Gus races frantically to find the man he loves.

The danger has put into perspective his fears and Gus decides not to be afraid anymore. He just hopes it’s not too late to lay claim to Raleigh’s heart.

New Release! My Pregnant Boyfriend!

It's release day of my new novella, My Pregnant Boyfriend.  My editor suggested that male pregnancy stories were popular but authors seemed to have a difficult time with writing such a story line, but being the outgoing, open minded person that I am I thought "Why not?"

Of course, I had to think a believable reason how a man might get pregnant.  I didn't even think of the alien way (my friend Jacey Holbrand came up with a fabulous story about that! Look out for Breeding Seth sometime soon from Evernight.).  Instead, I turned to a shifter story, with the idea that nature always finds a way to survive.  Nature adapts, changes, so I thought, why wouldn't it do the same with animals?

I began to research extinct animal races and came across an interesting species called Homotherium.  They were a type of scimitar toothed cat (saber tooth) that died out abruptly about ten thousand years ago, about the same time that humans began to cultivate the land.  I thought that was an interesting coincidence.  Also, it's rare to find full skeletons of the cats.  My imagination soared.

I came up with Peter, on the run from a hunter, and the last of his kind.  Instead of fighting, he's learned to run and hide, but the hunter is relentless and hunts him almost to the point of death.  He's saved by Ethan, a cougar shifter, and the two find an instant attraction.

I had a wonderful time writing My Pregnant Boyfriend.  I'm interested in writing more mpreg stories so any feedback would be great!

BLURB

Ethan Rushton can’t believe his eyes when he discovers the type of shifter of shifter he’s saved from a hunter.  The long incisors hanging out the mouth, the sloped hindquarters…it’s a saber tooth cat come to life.

Peter Neren’s been running his whole life.  For ten thousand years his species has been a secret but now he is the last of his kind.  He doesn’t know if he can trust Ethan, but he’s got to try because it’s time to take a stand.

Their attraction is instant, and once they act on their passions nature has found a way to ensure the survival of the species…leaving Peter pregnant.  He will do anything to protect his unborn cub, and so will Ethan, even if that means becoming bait to hunt down the man trying to kill them both.

Beth D. Carter visits with her New Historical Novel

Thank you so much for hosting me!  “The Treasure Hunters” started out as a movie script many years ago.  I’ve always known I wanted to be a writer, I just didn’t know in which media my passion lay.  I’ve written poetry and I wrote several movie scripts.  The Treasure Hunters was my last one and it was then that I decided I did NOT want to write in such a limited capacity any more.  So I switched to novels and I’ve been in love ever since.

I adore the Roaring Twenties.  Perhaps I have a past life centered in that time frame.  Everything from the lingo to the “live and die” attitude of the times.  It was a grand time for women, a very liberating movement that began with women’s suffrage.  This is my second book set in this time period, and this time, I tackled the horrible end of that golden age…the Stock Market Crash.  The subsequent weeks after October 29th defined the next decade and the attitude of so many people.

In The Treasure Hunters, my heroine, Ruby, feels the weight of the world on her shoulders.  Everything she does is with her friends in mind.  So when she finds a treasure map, she’s full steam ahead.  I consider her adventure a little bit Indiana Jones meets Sahara (the Brooke Shields version).  Happy reading!

Blurb:

When the stock market crashes on October 29, 1929, it doesn’t take long for Ruby Talcott to lose everything.  Her father’s shipping legacy slips through her fingers.  Alone, destitute, she packs up her two best friends Eden and Merridie, and takes them to England for a new life.

Working in her family’s warehouse of unclaimed cargo, she foils a plot to steal a map.  But this isn’t just any map…it’s to a lost pirate treasure.  Ruby takes the map for herself and convinces Eden and Merridie to go with her to find the priceless treasure.

She finds Captain Sinclair Dardon, a man also hit hard by the economic turn, to sail them towards adventure.  But Ruby didn’t count on her wild attraction to the handsome Captain.  Nor did she expect he has his own bad guys hunting him.

Excerpt:

She was vaguely aware her mouth dropped open. Before her wasn’t the typical scruffy-bearded, dirty boat captain.  This man was young.  And handsome.  More butterflies fluttered in her stomach.  He had short black hair that looked like he’d been running his fingers through it in aggravation.  He needed a shave, but Ruby rather thought his slight whiskers enhanced his looks rather than detracted.  Although he looked tough, he had kind eyes––blue maybe, or green.  It was hard to tell in the muted lantern light.  He was tall, muscular, and when their gazes met her heart stuttered in her chest.
“My name is Sin,” he said, introducing himself, although his gaze stayed locked upon her.
“Literally or figuratively?” Merridie asked dryly.
He winked at her.  “Captain Sinclair Dardon.  Who are you, and how may I help you?”
“I’m Ruby Talcott, and that’s Merridie Morgan and Eden Cariker.  We need passage to Africa,” Ruby said, ignoring the odd excitement gripping her insides.  Now was not the time to get distracted by a pretty face.  Oh, but that was easier said than done, especially once he turned those hypnotizing eyes back her way.
“Why do you think I can help?”
“The registry office has you listed on heading to Africa this morning.  We just need a ride.”
            “I’m not a passenger ship.”
“We won’t be passengers,” Ruby insisted.  “We can earn our way.”
The way his gaze traveled up and down her body had her blood heating up and leaving little doubt to what was going through his lascivious mind.
“This isn’t a whorehouse either,” he stated.

Bio:

I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate highrollers.  I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box.  I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.

I’ve been pretty fortunate in life to experience some amazing things.  I’ve lived in France, traveled throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  I am a mom to an amazing little boy.  I’m surrounded by friends and family.  I hate washing dishes but I love cooking. I hate washing clothes but I love wearing them. Writing my bio is difficult because I never know what to say so I hope you like this one.  My favorite color is red but I look best in black (it’s slimming).  I hate people who don't pick up their dog's crap in public places, people who don’t use turn signals, and I really hate people who are rude and condescending. I especially hate discrimination in all and every form.  And although I love holding a book in my hand, I absolutely adore my e-reader, whom I’ve named Ruby.  I love to hear from readers so I’ve made it really easy to find me on the web: https://twitter.com/BethDCarter
